Activities
The existing clubs offer a variety of activities which make them different, such as Fun French and a vegetable garden (produce from which is used in our Healthy Eating menus). The garden is planted and tended by the children. This experience assists in providing an interest in healthy eating and in the natural world, and is included as part of the ongoing tutoring in life values. We invite parents to come to talk to the children about their interests and hobbies, including cultural food tastings, police, ambulance and fire engine visits! There is a whole range of arts, crafts, cooking and other activities suitable for the various age groups and stages of development, supporting the National Curriculum at all levels.
Healthy Eating
We have a Healthy Eating Policy and provide fresh fruit and a wholesome meal at all clubs. Menus offered include pasta with a variety of sauces and cheese, jacket potatoes with a selection of fillings such as tuna, ham, baked beans etc. and sandwiches, always using wholesome bread. Where possible we use organic produce. We celebrate diversity, cultural differences and acknowledge that each child is different from the rest sampling foods from around the world and we grow our own fruit and vegetables (wherever we can). Drinking water is available throughout all sessions. The use of salt, sugar and additives is minimal, in accordance with nutritional guidelines. Meal times are relaxed and happy social occasions, although we do encourage good table manners. We respect and accommodate individual dietary requirements whether medically, culturally or religiously based. Our aim is to provide a fun and stimulating environment for the children, with safety and welfare our top priority – all within the boundaries of Best Practice and Playwork values.
Safety
Our ‘Out of School’ Clubs importantly recognise the needs of every child and provide a refreshing, informative and enjoyable environment in which their senses, interests and abilities can be nurtured and developed to their full potential. The safety, welfare and happiness of the children are of paramount importance to us.
Parties
We provide children’s parties throughout the year for occasions such as Halloween, Christmas and the End of the School Year. Entertainment is provided and there is plenty of fun and games.
